Sd.Kfz.2 KETTENKRAD “GIRLS’ LAST TOUR” 1/35 DRAGON

Sd.Kfz.2 KETTENKRAD "GIRLS' LAST TOUR" 1/35 DRAGON

This Dragon Models Kettenkrad box art seems like he’s living the life! I thought that ordinary male and female figures would be included, only one old-molded German soldier figure is included when opening the box. Isn’t that a bit of a scam?

In the meantime, when watching the animation “Made in Abys”, This is a personal favorite, Because the animation called “Girls’ Last Tour” was recommended, I watched it. There are many scenes in which Kettenkrad comes out of this animation. That reminds me, I bought Kettenkrad a while ago and started making it.

Though I cannot see it after I wear a cover on it, a small engine is in this kit.

Perhaps the parts are out of date, except that the caterpillar has been changed to rubber named Dragon Styrene. Parts matching is not good, anyway, hardly succeed to become a shape.

I’ll make it like a Kettenkrad that appears in “Girls’ Last Tour” animation. Although it seems that the total length of the body is slightly extended by the setting of this story, I’ll ignore it. Just add the rack on the left, and place a drum, luggage, bottles and so on.

I am watching a new work of my favorite “Legend of the Galactic Heroes”, “Die Neue These”. Almost all the main characters are changing to handsome is a bit peculiar feeling, but it is quite funny. The graphics are without complaint. A battleship and a fighter aircraft are so cool! Why is the collar of Colonel Siegfried Kircheis like the Imperial Japanese Army? Reinhard is the ultimate his sister’s boy and somewhat gay atmosphere as usual, anyway, I am looking forward to the next story. Handsome Yang Wen-li is funny, but am I getting used to this? Attenborough’s scene is change to Rao and maybe some of the scenes are omitting. But this is loyal to the original novel. I like Attenborough but it is the same as a novel and maybe appearing a bit later. I’ve been wanting to see the old works of “Legend of the Galactic Heroes” again, but what I had with old VHS tapes have already gone somewhere.

The front wheel is like a motorcycle. I only made a German military motorcycle a couple of years ago, the bike kit was difficult around the handle.

There is an engine at the rear of the driver’s seat, and there is a net like a ventilation hole at the top. This is a rectangular slit in animation setting but ignored here. However, I padded extra holes on both sides with putty.

The drum is fixed with two belts.

I tried loading metal boxes of the ration and other luggage. I have not modified the whole length of Kettenkrad, so I cannot load as much luggage as animation.

I attached a shovel to the right side.

Sd.Kfz.2 KETTENKRAD "GIRLS' LAST TOUR" 1/35 DRAGON

I would like to make the man and woman of this box art, but those figures are not included in this package. So I try to build this animation characters Chito and Yuuri. However, it is a bit reckless to start with my skill as I usually do not make such figures at all. I put a putty on the figures of the surplus sitting posture, I suck at this, completely useless, when I think about it, these physique is fundamentally different.

Sd.Kfz.2 KETTENKRAD "GIRLS' LAST TOUR" 1/35 DRAGON

First of all, are Chito and Yuuri about junior high school students or high school students? I think it is as small as two times compared to a general German figure. And since they have no shoulder width at all, I made a pose appropriately with the runner.

Sd.Kfz.2 KETTENKRAD "GIRLS' LAST TOUR" 1/35 DRAGON

I made them while adjusting the pose to fit on the Kettenkrad using a heat pen. The helmets could not be used because the British army and the German army’s were too real. It takes time and effort to handmade all from the runner. It is quite funny working of forming with a heat pen that does not usually do at all.

I painted it with dark yellow with reference to the animation.

I polished the face a bit more and made it smooth, I added hair with epoxy putty. Yuri has a curly blond and needed so much work.

As Chito has pigtails hair gathered, it seems better to paint only.

For the time being, I paint figures and Kettenkrad. The color of accessories is a rough sense, but there may be no big difference.

I cut and pasted the excess decal on hand, touched it with a brush and added a body number like the “Girls’ Last Tour” version. This unique font is difficult. Yuri is armed with a rifle, I have gotten one from another kit.

Speaking of Kettenkrad, it is a German military vehicle of WWII, but since it comes out quite often at “Girls’ Last Tour”, I tried to make it similar to this animation. In addition, I made figures of Chito and Yuuri. The completeness of the figure is not very high.

It’s cartoon film setting, so I thought I made casually, but it’s difficult. As usual, I want to do the weathering effect.

Side rack is made by cutting and pasting of pulling cart parts.

Sd.Kfz.2 KETTENKRAD "GIRLS' LAST TOUR" 1/35 DRAGON

The description of this anime a little, just one minute before the destruction of the human race. It’s like a post-apocalypse road movie. The number of characters is quite small, and there is nothing like natural green, river, etc. It is the content that two girls wander in ruins all the time.

Sd.Kfz.2 KETTENKRAD "GIRLS' LAST TOUR" 1/35 DRAGON

There seems to be a lot of criticism of the contents, but it is quite funny if you think that it is not an animation for logicality but a poem. Although it cannot be helped if you cannot bear with it about the second episode, the story is short so I recommend you to watch it until the end. There is not much rationality in the behavior of the character. I like it personally, If two characters are not girls, but man and woman, I think it’s like the Genesis, not world’s end.

The Kettenkrad actually does not run slowly like animation, but can run quite fast. A small jump is also possible. Perhaps it is like a snowmobile. When I was in my twenties, I have been to skiing in Whistler, Canada, It was quite interesting to take a snowmobile tour with optional. At that time, I got on a machine with a high horsepower, the speed was fast, and it could climb the steep slope strongly.

There is a decal for a meter, and a small part can be reproduced.

Chito’s face, eye position a little too far apart from original?

Sd.Kfz.2 KETTENKRAD "GIRLS' LAST TOUR" 1/35 DRAGON Sd.Kfz.2 KETTENKRAD "GIRLS' LAST TOUR" 1/35 DRAGON

Yuuri’s face is more complicated and difficult, such as eye shape than Chito. Finer hand painting requires perseverance. I think that it is somewhat similar. If I have a commercially available kit, I probably will buy that. If the face is a decal, the burden will be reduced considerably and the finish will be good. I’m thinking about that, it seems to be released by Platz in June? It’s fairly expensive, but it’s going to be pretty good. It is too tough to make them from plastic runners.

Sd.Kfz.2 KETTENKRAD "GIRLS' LAST TOUR" 1/35 DRAGON

Sometimes making figures from runners using the heat-pen is funny and interesting. Personally, I prefer to assemble ready-made plastic kit.

The 1/35th scale Tamiya’s Kettenkrad is currently out of stock and sold at extremely high prices. But if you make it, it would be better to make Tamiya’s 1/48 scale, it is within 1,000 yen, (around USD10.00)and can be enjoyed at a very inexpensive price. This time, I happen to make a Dragon kit, but this is not such a new kit. Perfection may be higher than Tamiya because of the quality of the belt caterpillar and the reproduction of the engine, etc. I think it is fun to try making once for AFV fans because it is rare and extremely small among half-tracks.

I am interested in models of tanks, airplanes, ships, military figures, I build it little by little when I feel like it. I am also interested in the history of war. My starting is Tamiya’s Military Miniature series in the elementary school.
From elementary school through university students repeatedly suspend and restart my modeling, it’s about 25 years of this hobby’s history.
Born in February 1970, I live in Tokyo. From February 2007 I was quietly doing a site called “Miniature-Arcadia”. It is being transferred to this blog with the same name from December 2016. My update pace is uneven, but please come to see here occasionally.
