I try to build the Sherman Tank of the Dragon Models now this time.
When saying a Sherman Tank, I mistook to watch the movie called “The Fury of Flame battlefield” its direct translation from Japanese title. I believed and waited the Sherman and Brad Pitt came out to come out sooner or later, after I have finished watching 90 minutes and felt a sense of helplessness….. The battle of M18 Hellcat and Panzer III? Moreover, it’s a local encounter in the almost last stage of the WWII? I got a wrong movie to watch from the beginning.
However, the original title is “Saints and Soldiers: The Void”, there’s no word of “Fury”. How to put Japanese titles is like the thing for the mistake of Japanese consumers intentionally. I felt the malice of the fraudulent business. The contents are ordinary. A uniform, tools and a story are passing point, battle scene is not good. And both the US and Germany tanks are too beautiful. I write it again, the director has neither the malice nor the problem. I think it’s bad the domestic distributors and agents in Japan who thought the Japanese title in that timing almost same as “Fury”. I felt it’s rude to a producer.
It was a complaint above, there are many parts in Dragon Model’s Sherman tank, Work is proceeding.
I do not really understand the historical investigation of this Sherman well, but I like the parts because the mold is very sharp.
I am checking the winding up a belt caterpillar. I can adjust the tension of the caterpillar a little, moving the rear wheel position.
Whether the storage condition was bad, or it had been bent from the time of shipment, storage time is too long, I do not know by now. The teeth of the caterpillar side of the Dragon styrene have got twisted.
Because I did not seem to be easily recovered, I cut the normal gear of the invisible parts with a cutter and transplanted them. I think that the appearance is better than twisting unnaturally.
Curved surface along the drive sprocket is a natural feeling.
I adhered here and there and hang down so that a feeling of weight is given generally.
The right guards are ultra-thin photo etched parts.
It’s during the assembly of the turret. The mantlet is precise, there is an additional armor. Because the gun is up and down, moving, be careful about the adhesion points.
Because a metal wire was hard and was difficult to bend, so I annealed it by a gas cooker.
Roughly the assembly has been completed.
Behind the gun turret, for baggage? I attached the photo etched belts.
Headlights are clear parts.
The photo etched parts like rivets are attached on the rear armor. Tail lights are also clear parts.
The side is flat. The decal on this armor is elephant marking, I think it’s easy to paste.
Because M4A2 was a diesel engine, it wasn’t deployed so much in the U.S. Army, and was given to the Soviet Union and the U.K. But it was used in the Marine Corps.
The assembling is almost completed, and the next is the painting.
Clear parts were masked by a masking sol.
Base paint is black as usual.
I painted the Tamiya acrylic olive-drab.
The surface of the tank is wetted with water, peeling off the olive-drab and exposed the black, but do not come off very much. I dried acrylic paint too much, or I used very thin blowing hair spray?
I pasted the decals on the top clear coating. It is almost completed.
I finished the Sherman Medium Tank.
Finally, I watched a real “Fury” since I mistook the other movie because of very similar titled one. The suicide mission like operation at the end of the battle was disastrous. The tracer shell shooting scene was like a laser beam in a SF. Tiger I looked very realistic. Inside the U.S. tank and the military uniform is cool. I wonder my modeling is still too beautiful compared with the tank in this movie. US Army tank crew was in the mood of war weariness, I wanted a little more wit lines. Overall, it was interesting.
The armament of this tank is a 75mm gun. When it is a 76mm gun, a gun barrel is longer and seems to be strong. Is there so much fire power different from the 1mm different only? I have heard the caliber length is longer, the power is increased.
M4A2 is a diesel engine tank, has been provided to the United Kingdom and the Soviet Union based on the Lend-Lease Acts.
Rust has become unnatural. It’s like painted with a brush… I should try a little more variety. But the vehicle will be easy to be rusted because the island was considerably much moisture.
Weathering is a battle in the islands of the South Pacific, it is an image of the red soil.
Belt caterpillar, Dragon kit belt tracks are called Dragon Styrene? I think it’s pretty good in spite of the belt.
The marking is Co. D. 1st Marine Amphibious Corps Tank Bn. 2nd Marine Division, Tarawa 1943.
Because overdoing weathering, peel off the coating of hair spray technique can’t be recognized so much.
U.S. tanks in the European front had been suffered by the German high-performance tanks. However, the Sherman against the Japanese imperial army tanks are overwhelming strength. The performance of the Japanese tank was not very well.
This time, my work is going well, the barrel is movable up and down and the turret was around smoothly. Sometimes glue flows to an unexpected place and it becomes spoiled.
This kit was very good that the photo etched right guard was thin. I would like to make this kind of thin, delicate curved parts by myself…. It may be possible if the work carefully made from a plastic board.
The hatch is temporarily attached.
The Japanese Imperial Army attacked at closing to use adsorption mine, U.S. tanks in order to prevent the attack, there was a vehicle that paste the thick wooden board on the side. It was at the same effect as the German army of Zimmerit Coating. In some of my books, there was a vehicle that was attached many small metal bars like a hedgehog on the surface of the turret, it prevents the Japanese soldier climbing up to the tanks.
The Japanese attack to the U.S. tanks was terrible. Attack to destroy one tank which put out a large number of killed in action.
It is the U.S. infantry soldier of the camouflage uniform which I built the other day. I feel that also matches the in the Pacific Front.
It is during the march rather than assault.
The weathering of the rust, there is a need for improvement. But the painting of the underside is satisfied. Marking is also interesting. Because it was after a long absence, it was pleasant to make a Sherman tank.
I am interested in models of tanks, airplanes, ships, military figures, I build it little by little when I feel like it. I am also interested in the history of war. My starting is Tamiya’s Military Miniature series in the elementary school.
From elementary school through university students repeatedly suspend and restart my modeling, it’s about 25 years of this hobby’s history.
Born in February 1970, I live in Tokyo. From February 2007 I was quietly doing a site called “Miniature-Arcadia”. It is being transferred to this blog with the same name from December 2016. My update pace is uneven, but please come to see here occasionally.
