There became considerably much stock of my plastic models. It’s various released from 30 years before to recent one. It is what I want to make now. A balance of the amount of the stock and making speed is the modeler’s eternal theme. A modeling style is up to persons.

chassis and assembling of the axles, SWS Flak43 Italeri 1/35

The beginning is from a chassis and assembling of the axles.

It is not sticky even if I sharpen the plastic of this Italeri kit. It’s like dry feeling plastic and is very comfortable for me.

connection-type caterpillar, SWS Flak43 Italeri 1/35

This Italeri kit has a connection-type caterpillar, I like it very much.

At first I thought to wind a little by little, these tracks are two kinds like a king tiger and T-34, the size was quite small, so first I stuck them to a double-stick tape and they are fixed.

I blended Mr.Cement S and Mr. Cement Deluxe to adjust viscosity for these tracks.

I blended Mr.Cement S and Mr. Cement Deluxe to adjust viscosity for these tracks. Quick work is required. There are no spare caterpillar parts, so they can’t be lost. You might be able to wind slightly well. It was good to be able to wind up well.

winding up both sides tracks safely. SWS Flak43 Italeri 1/35

I have finished winding up both sides safely. There is a mold in the backside of the caterpillar and it is enough quality.

Front wheels are movable, SWS Flak43 Italeri 1/35

Front wheels are movable. It is a type to burn the pinpoint by the heated driver. Because the plastic and paint, inflammables including the thinner pile up in my room, I must be careful about the handling of the fire very much. Frequently used in the dinner , this heavy stable candle stand, it is the made in Italy favorite one, is to turn off hurry up when I finished my work.

I don’t know how to intervene with other parts, so I stop a drivers compartment putting together around here.

completed chassis, SWS Italeri 1/35

As for the front wheel, movable around 30 degrees in right and left; Since the armored car tires of other manufacturers are still rare, This ITALERI kit is over 15 years old, but this spirit is wonderful. The movable part isn’t strong, so it’s better not to hard handling.

loading platform, SWS Italeri 1/35

Having assembled a loading platform, I adjust it with the driver’s seat. All the frames of the carrier opened. The wire netting parts of the mesh are effective to detail up.

Flak43

As for all the antiaircraft gun and the cannons, small parts are complicated. If it is a tank, I insert a big pipe and that’s all.  Because I don’t have much experience of Italeri model, it accelerates difficulty not to get used to an Italeri manual.

Flak43, SWS

I assembled it a little. Because I do not understand the basic structure, it is difficult.

anti-aircraft gun, German half-track heavy military tractor SWS

An anti-aircraft gun was made roughly. I will soon combine it into one.

taking care to horizontal and vertical. German half-track heavy military tractor SWS

The tip is taking care to horizontal and vertical. This could not say perfect, because it seemed to be broken if the parts which must be perpendicularly were diagonal, I cared about it. Small parts are still left.

painting interior, German half-track heavy military tractor SWS

A carrier and a driver’s seat are glued together on a chassis and the interior is being painted. Even if I look into it, it seems not well visible.

The assembly completed.

shells were loaded, German half-track heavy military tractor SWS

The shells were loaded rather much. Painting seems difficult.

angle of the gun is mobile smoothly, SWS Italeri 1/35

The angle of the gun is mobile smoothly. But, there is no strength of the parts so much. A gun was turned to the top.

parts adjustment, SWS Italeri 1/35

Impression of the assembly, parts adjustment is better than I thought. There were pin marks of injection and the dented parts here and there, I corrected them.

dent mark was left slightly on the bulletproof board

The dent mark was left slightly on the bulletproof board. Seeing from the side, an iron plate of the front part of the bonnet is thick. This is for protecting an engine from shooting from the front. Types of front armor 16mm were produced in the last years of the war.

painting the whole with blackish paint, SWS Italeri 1/35

I am painting the whole with blackish paint.

paint in black, SWS Italeri 1/35

It was the base after having torn off the aqueous hobby colors.

matte medium, SWS Italeri 1/35

I mixed a pastel with matte medium, it’s a three-dimensional expression of the mud. There are not many meanings of mixing a pastel as this timing. Maybe it’s smooth surface if only mat medium, after mixing pastel is changed rough texture.

dark yellow and dark green camouflage, German half-track

It was only the dark yellow single color on a painting instruction. It was monotonous, so dark green was added like a box picture and it was made a camouflage in two colors.

German half-track heavy military tractor SWS Flak43 Italeri 1/35 build and painting to finish

The SWS Half-track was managed mainly in the later period of World War II. Each part was simplified, high-speed running wasn’t asked, the driving performance on the muddy road was considered and a caterpillar was more broad than the past models.

The SWS half-track is the maximum speed per hour about 30km.

The SWS half-track is the maximum speed per hour about 30km, compared to 50km of other half-track models, it is quite slow. However, a carrier was broad and stable, so a derivation vehicle was made variously. The model mounted with this antiaircraft gun is one of those, too.

The sWS half-track is released from Bronco and Great Wall Hobby now.

The sWS half-track is released from Bronco and Great Wall Hobby now. This Italeri kit may be very good, too.

I expressed detachment of the painting in hair spray technique. I do not like the water-based paint very much, after all it is necessary when I use this technique. The thing of the kind of paint will increase variously, Mr. Color, Mr. Color water hobby color, TAMIYA enamel, oil paint, pastel, marker, etc.

A compound wheel is the feature of the German vehicles.

A compound wheel is the feature of the German vehicles. The road ability improved by this, I suppose. The maintainability and the productivity fall substantially. The German vehicle quality was not able to compete with the Soviet Union, the United States of the mass production.

shells were small

The shells were small, so painting was difficult. There are some places where I failed, when not getting close to see, it isn’t conspicuous.

big wooden bench at the driver's seat, SWS Flak43 Italeri 1/35

I drew the big wooden bench at the driver’s seat with effort. I suppose it was the quite good finish.

I sharpened some edges of the bulletproof board and thinned it for more realistic expression.

SWS Flak43 Italeri 1/35

The empty cartridges are included with the kit, it was arranged after painting.

SWS Flak43 Italeri 1/35

Usually it is going to be stored in this empty cartridge case. Judging from this size, it seems to become full immediately. There were 9 empty cartridges at first, I lost one before I’m aware. Strangely, I cannot find it even if I look for painstakingly. It should be absolutely in this room. But the parts lost in the room had lain on a bathroom the other day. It’ll stick to clothes and have moved.

anti-slip dots were molded on the carrier, SWS Flak43 Italeri 1/35

Because the antislip dots were molded on the carrier, I emphasized it by a drybrush moderately.

In order to slightly have a sense of unity in camouflage paint, I had a long dark green pattern of vertical and back and forth horizontal.

The total production amount of this heavy tractor seemed not reach 1,000 cars.

The total production amount of this heavy tractor seemed not reach 1,000 cars. Signs of defeat were strong, and were there many weapons which took first priority?

I had to line the number decals which is separately one by one straight. The WH number is the German army, the WL is the Luftwaffe. This is the German army vehicle.

Tamiya enamel Gold is something different.

I cannot dilute the gold of the Tamiya enamel with the enamel thinner, and is separated. Usability is poor, contact for customer service and is still dilution is bad. But I melted it properly with the Creos thinner of the Mr. Color. Ummm, it’s almost same usability as Mr. Color gold.

Completed work of German half-track heavy military tractor SWS Flak43 Italeri 1/35

I’m satisfied for this half track to become the uniformity finish. In fact, it was still 2 items to complete Italeri kits. Because it is a major manufacturer to represent Europe, I would like to make a lot more if there is an opportunity for future choices.
Come to think of it, a future day in the very popular movie “Back to the Future” was yesterday. Well, it is early that time passes. I’d like to see the trilogy again. It was a really nice movie.
(22-October-2015)

I am interested in models of tanks, airplanes, ships, military figures, I build it little by little when I feel like it. I am also interested in the history of war. My starting is Tamiya’s Military Miniature series in the elementary school.
From elementary school through university students repeatedly suspend and restart my modeling, it’s about 25 years of this hobby’s history.
Born in February 1970, I live in Tokyo. From February 2007 I was quietly doing a site called “Miniature-Arcadia”. It is being transferred to this blog with the same name from December 2016. My update pace is uneven, but please come to see here occasionally.
